The students at Preston West are offered a comprehensive inter school sporting program in Grade Six. All students are given the opportunity to compete in a variety of sports against other schools within the local community. During term one, sports offered include rounders, tee-ball, bat-tennis and cricket. During term two, sports offered include football, boys and girls soccer and netball. All teams play each Friday in a competitive game that is designed to teach fairness, participation and encourage good sportsmanship. After school training on a Wednesday is held in order to teach new skills and develop a better understanding of the sports played.
Throughout the course of the year students will be given the opportunity to participate in swimming, cross country running and athletics, at both school and district level. This involves Athletics training each Friday throughout term three and a distinct focus on athletics during Physical Education lessons.
Additional sporting events throughout the year include, a series of clinics, 4-6 P.W.P.S Athletics Carnival, Grade 3 Sports Day, 3/4 and 5/6 Hoop Time Basketball round robin tournament during term three and 3/4 Soccer round robin.
Term 1 Sports
Summer sports include Rounders taken by Ms Norton, Cricket taken by Mr Tobin, Bat Tennis taken by Miss Watkins and Tee Ball taken Mr Sam Burnett.
Matches are played each Friday 9:30am against other schools in the PDPSSA.
