Interschool Sports

The students at Preston West are offered a comprehensive inter school sporting program during grades five and six. All students are given the opportunity to compete in a variety of sports against other schools within the local community. During term one, sports offered include rounders, tee-ball, bat-tennis and cricket. During term two, sports offered include football, soccer, netball and softball. All teams play each Friday in a competitive game that is designed to teach fairness, participation and encourage good sportsmanship. After school training on a Wednesday is held in order to teach new skills and develop a better understanding of the sports played.

Throughout the course of the year students will be given the oppurtunity to participate in cross country running and athletics, at both school and district level. This involves Athletics training each Friday throughout term three and a distinct focus on athletics during Physical Education lessons.

Additional sporting events throughout the year include ,a series of clinics run by Carlton Football Club in Term 2, a district Athletics Carnival which allows students from local schools to get together and compete and a basketball round robin tournament during term three.
